DAWN LIGHT

Drape me in the dawn light and cover me in song.  Show me where the soul lies and where our hearts run wrong.

Love me before the sun dies, before it passes from this room, leaves your lips your closed eyes, paints its final plume.

And please.  Please don’t leave.

Clothe me in the sunrise or wrap my chest in dusk.  Tell me where the soul lies and where hearts betray their trust.

And please.  Please don’t leave.

Because the light will leave and you’ll look me in the eye and speak to rest your peace.  Not a prayer or a lie, just love on lease.

And the dawn will fade, give way to to brighter sun, to bigger days.  Ways to measure up, stack, and chase and chase.

And the dusk will go, give in to lower notes, to lower tones.  And we will whisper of what was and what we wished would be.

So, darling, speak love.

(Still really raw, but I am too exhausted to do any more)
